Building a dream
Nick Pace
I used play local football regularly until my mid 30’s however, I hadn’t kicked a ball for 15 years when I decided to join a walking football Parkinson’s team. I have played for Fighting Fit Football Club based at Watford for 4 years.
The growth of Parkinson’s football has been phenomenal and the annual Cure Parkinson’s Cup held this April at St. George’s Park, attracted 24 teams included foundation teams from the likes of Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Derby County and Bristol City. We won the Cup in 2024 however, couldn’t retain our title this year, getting knocked out in the group stages.
There is a massive Parkinson’s football community driven by the superb team at Sports Parkinson’s.
Physical Activity is the only thing known to slow down my non curable condition so I am passionate about encouraging as many people to play in a friendly environment, where the social aspect is particularly good for the mental well being.
My dream is to play for a West Ham United Parkinson’s team.
