Multi-award winning
Champion player
Myles Miller
Myles is a 22-year-old multi-award and Championship-winning Powerchair football player, who also has Muscular Dystrophy.

Muscular Dystrophy is a lifelong disability where your muscles waste away over time and you have limited strength, Myles has never been able to walk and uses an electric wheelchair to perform all his daily tasks. Fortunately, his mental health side of things is unaffected (except for some short-term memory loss).

His family has always enjoyed sports of all kinds, and all attend different events, He admits that he has two football teams that he follows, West Ham Utd and Liverpool.

Before starting his journey in Powerchair football he tried a few other sports including Cricket and Boccia, but in his words, they “didn’t fit his interests and his muscle strength didn’t fit the needs of the sport”. He then joined his local powerchair football team, Sevenoaks PFC, His first year in powerchair football was just spent learning the sport and seeing if it was a good fit for him physically and mentally. He has been part of the sport for over 14 years, so it’s safe to say he enjoys it.

After his 2nd year, his family applied for funding for a sports-specific chair so he could continue to progress through the Sevenoaks PFC team ladder (beginner, intermediate, second team development, and first team). With his help, the team now plays in the premiership league,

Myles say’s that being part of the powerchair football has given him a platform to aim high and achieve high, as well as creating new friendships, and how to be respectful to any individuals in and out of the sport. He has been fortunate enough to have been awarded by players and managers of other teams, Club Player of the Season, managers player of the Season, and league player of the Season with the biggest achievement of Winning the championship 17/18 season.

HIS WORDS OF SUPPORT - Disability doesn’t mean anything bad it’s more
“different abilities suit different scenarios”.
Don’t lose an opportunity that’s in your lap through your own mindset as there’s so much in this world that prohibits us we need to respect and get involved in what’s out there.
