Keighley Miles and Cathy Bayford got the opportunity to watch from behind the cameras as TNT Sports’ Sign Up - Into Football was filmed at Chadwell Heath at the end of November. The programme aims to raise the profile of the deaf community, elevating the visibility of British Sign Language (BSL) and is leading the way in making sports programming accessible for all.
Deaf BSL presenters Damaris Cooke & Rolf Choutan interviewed Mark Noble, James Ward-Prowse and Academy Manager Kenny Brown at the training centre on 28th November, with Keighley & Cathy watching James Ward-Prowse coach Daramis & Rolf as they took free kicks at the Centre’s indoor pitch. This gives the DSA the chance to highlight the work that is being done behind the scenes at the Club to see a full BSL provision at the Stadium. This will enable deaf & hard of hearing supporters to fully engage in all aspects of the match day experience, including half time pitch-side interviews and fan based quizzes. Something Keighley, the DSB’s deaf representative is passionate to see in place, not only for herself and her son, Leo but for the next generation of the deaf & hard of hearing West Ham supporters
